Barclaycard
Hi
I am looking for some advice. I have a Barclaycard which I have fallen into arrears with. It has got as far as Mercers debt collections. After endlessphone calls to my mobile, home phone and finally workplace I advised them that I could not afford to meet my minimum payments. They advised me to contact CCCS which I did and I contacted Mercers to let them know that CCCS have advised that I pay £50.00 a month. They totally ignored my letter and within a week I have had a letter to say that my debt is been passed to a
debt collector , another letter to say contact them urgently and the last letter today reads:-
We are notifying you that we have exercised our legal right to set off the arrears owing on your Barclaycard account against the credit balance in yourBarclays Bank account.
As Barclaycard is part of Barclays Bank we are able to apply funds from your Bank account in order to pay debts owing to Barclaycard products.
Your credit reference agency data will be updated accordingly.
They have advised that they are taking £141.32 out of my account.
I am really worried can they do this ?Last edited by MUMMYCC; 29th May 2009 at 21:19. Reason: spelling error

Re: Barclaycard
Unfortuantely, yes they can do this. It is called offset. I would suggest you look for a
parachute account as soon as possible.
