Default Have chronic illness and was sold ppi

Hi, I've only discovered today that the loan I was originally sold in 2004 with ppi will not be covered by the insurance if my chronic condition (diagnosed in 1997) flares up and I need to claim.

The loan was refinanced in 2008, so has another 3 1/2 years was taken with RBS.

My condition is not helped by stress so I just want to know if it's worthwhile chasing this (loan total £8500) or am I wasting my time.

I of course want to now cancel the loan insurance as there is little point in me paying it for another 3 1/2 years if it won't do what I want it to when it's needed.

I was never asked at any time if I had any existing conditions. I feel very annoyed!

Thank You in advance for your help!

Olivia

Hi Olivia,

I would advise firstly to write to RBS and point out your reasons that you believe that the PPI was missold. I would also make a Subject access requestautolinker.com autolinking image unless your sure that you have all the details/documentation relating to the loan.

A template letter is available on this site but in addition I would point out to RBS that 'Insurers are under an obligation to ensure that the policy they are selling is appropriate to that customer and clearly, as my medical situation means I am unable to claim on the policy, you have not fulfilled this requirement'.

Going by other threads on this site, RBS will probably deny that your insurance was missold, so the step after that would be to complain to the fosautolinker.com autolinking image, but you can only complain to them after receiving a letter from RBS saying that it's their final word on the matter.

But on a brighter side, RBS may agree with you Here's hoping.

Do look at the other threads regarding PPI. There is a lot of advice from some very knowledgable people.

Regards,

Bosun.

Thank you for your reply Bosund!

I will start the process immediately to see if I can get anywhere.

There seem to be a lot of companys ofeering to take the case up, no win no fee, but they do want a high proportion of any rebate if I win (29%)

I will try what you have suggested first and will keep the thread updated!

Regards,

Olivia

Best of luck.

Do it yourself with the info on this site and you'll save the 29%. I did with MBNA.
