Default Erroneous DD Charges?

Hi all been lurking here for a while and finally have a question.

A few months ago I recieved a letter from a finance company I have an HPI agreement with and had missed a payment by a week. I promptly payed on reciept of the letter from them. The same happenened the following month but in the 2nd letter they stated that they had now cancelled my direct debitautolinker.com autolinking image.
As I was happy to ring up on payday each month and pay by phone I cancelled the direct debit on the cahoot website.

This morning I noticed a returned item charge on my account and after investigating further, it seems while I was over my agreed overdraftautolinker.com autolinking image limit cahoot has payed the DD and then recalled it at the end of November and the same at the end of October, charging me £25 a time for the privelege.

As I had cancelled the DD myself surely they shouldn't be charging me for this and then charging 20% interest for the £25 pounds they have wrongly charged me

As I'm already in the process of claiming back the last 6 yearsautolinker.com autolinking image worth of charges (just waiting for the full list of charges back at the moment) and I'm not sure if I should ring cahoot and ask for these back now or wait a little longer.

If anyone has any idea on this I'd be very gratefull.

Oh dear - what are they like?

It's up to you really - you could try phoning them up to get it back; or just add it to your claim. You'll definitely get it back with the claim, but it depends on how soon you need that charge back and how incensed your feeling!

Let us know how you get on, Lou

Thanks Lou.

I rang them - out of anger. Their response was that the direct debitautolinker.com autolinking image was still active and if I had cancelled it, there may have been a problem with my internet connection timing out.
The guy at cahoot said he will refund the 50quid and it should hit my account within a couple of days (I'll make that next wednesday because of the weekend and because of the fact they're cahoot)
Now of course I am going to speak to the finance company to find out why they sent me a letter cancelling the DD and then re-activating it without my explicit permission.
