HUGE fees - getting me deeper into debt. Help!

I'll start at the beginning. Just over a year ago my husband became unemployed and after a couple of months we struggled to keep up minimum payments on our credit cards. We paid what we could afford but it got out of control due to all the fees that were imposed.

We cut up our cards as soon as we started to struggle. Even when he got back onto employment, we could not keep up repayments. The CAB referred us to a company to manage our debt for us and they started making payments on our behalf.

Barclaycard accepted the payments offered to my husbands credit card with them but not to mine. Despite payments having been worked out pro-rata.

My Barclaycard balance increased from £350 to £835 in 9 months - I had cut my card up and not spent a penny on it.

I was being charged £50 a month:
£20 late payment charge (as they wouldn't count the payments that were being made);
£20 exceeded limit charge (even though I wasn't originally over the limit until the fees were put on)
and about £10 interest on the debt.

That's almost £500 in fees on a £350 debt. . . . and counting. What can I do? At the moment I am just waiting for the day that the account is defaulted. But should I have to repay all of these fees?

Barclaycard are also managing another credit card I have- it's exactly the same story.

Do you have all the info? calculate everything they have taken.

Well if you don't know how much you are claiming then you can't do much, can you?

Just a word of warning if your current account is with barclays the can and might help themselves to money in that account to pay your barclaycard debt. They did this to me at the start of this month, they took £700!

If you can I would change current accounts.
